This week's GAYLEs are Do-It-Yourself Alexander the Great Breastplate kits (inspired by kstanley in the HoYay! thread). These handy-dandy kits include poster board, styrofoam, spray paint, glitter, and uncooked macaroni in the hopes that the winners will manage to make something that looks more authentic than the props people did, [Which, as Omar pointed out in his recap, looks like something from the Liberace period of the rule of Alexander the FABULOUS!]
The GAYLE -- Awarded by Omar in the recap to the look on Lex's face just before he plays with Clark's telescope. Or was it Clark's gaydar? Many people seemed to think that the intimate look that the security cameras captured Clark giving Lex should get this award; others voted for the pleading look that Lex gives Clark after their sidewalk discussion outside The Beanery. However, a LesYay! GAYLE has been nominated for the Chloe/Lana exchange. I wonder what kind of Torch those two are working on.
The GAL -- There were so many nominations for "I'd have thought you were buddies" and "I want your son," but I hate to see evil win anything. Several people mentioned the intimacy in Clark's voice when he thanked Lex "for last night." However, there were nearly as many nominations for Clark going all growly on Lex when he said, "How close are you going to keep her?" Which has some interesting resonances when taken in tandem with Lex's "Keep your friends close and the quarterback closer." For once, Clark gets the GAL.
HoNay! -- Boobs McChesty and her amazingly bad accent. I didn't think anyone could be so bad that she'd get her own accent wrong. However, I must make a special mention of new poster Craven who pointed out "Clark punching the beam in his house [should get the HoNay!]. He did it close-fisted with total disregard of what it might do to his nails." Wish I'd said that.
PHOC - As Omar mentioned the phallicity of the bamboo sake holder that Lex pours from, I think that gets it. Honorable mention for Lex's extendable telescope.
SWOLI -- Was Lana's line "I guess that's what I get for trying to be a hero!" actually worse than Pete's explaining to Chloe that she just got fired? The debate will never end. Though Phelan's "You're not bulletproof" may just sneak through for the win.
The Juvie -- See Lana's line in the SWOLI above. Talking to the principal was hardly heroic. Agreeing to take Chloe's job away from her was just nasty, no matter how inadvertent.
The Platypus -- According to Omar goes to Bo, Bo, Bo for his 'Platitudes - the Prison remix.' Or possibly the ones he was spraying like a garden hose in his first scene. Honorable mention to Lana for "Every family has its rough times" to Clark whose father was just arrested on suspicion of murder. And one to Clark for "I have to handle it myself." Bo's so proud.
Occasionals:
The Acting!Lana - One or two people suggested it, but since her line readings are causing poor Omar to break out in hives, I think we'll forgo it this week.
However, many of us liked Bo Kent so much this week with his tears and his temper that we will be awarding an Acting!Bo. This award will only be given again, if he does so well that everyone remembers to actually call him Jonathan.
The Yea! I finally have something to Do! -- Nope, not this week. Though Chloe's angst got her a nomination. Way to go Chloe!
The Diddler -- Lockus interruptus will do it every time.
The DICK - It seems we all like a little tiger in our man. Clark's threats of grievous bodily harm to Phelan ensured there wasn't a dry seat in the house. Anyone's house, apparently. Clark's edibility was also very high in the aforementioned barn sequence. Trust Omar to notice that we never saw Lex leave. Wonder if Boobs McChesty noticed? Lastly, many of us have found ourselves grinning back at the TV screen when Clark turns on his megawatt grin, like when the 'rents said they were proud of him. {sigh}
The LEXUS - As is so often the case, see 'The Diddler' above.
The DRILL - Is going to go to an entire scene for once. Many of us loved the tears in the eyes swallow at the end of Lex/Clark Beanery scene, but Lex stops Clark by touching Clark's chest. After running after Clark in full view of the very packed coffeehouse. {hyperventilation} Sorry, back now. Yes, Lex likes Clark.
The PSHAW -- We seem to have an overall yes consensus on this one. I'm in favor of it, but several people suggested that we omit the award for the scenes Lana was in. If Chloe hadn't been convincing, I'd agree.
The Arglefuffle - is awarded to Miss Ho Nay. My favorite interpretation of her immortal line 'Lex arglefuffle ed' is kstanley's 'Lex, do you prefer Granny or Jed?'
We have our first RECOYL nomination for the woman who's been cast as Lex's lover. Lex! Lex who has managed to have chemistry with pool cues, his father, his father's drones, bottles of Ty Nant, nasty reporters, and wordless servants of both genders can't manage more than a yawn for his ex-girlfriend who's trying to 'rekindle' their past relationship? I'd suggest the idea of an Acting!Boobs for her as it would give her something to aim for, but I don't believe it would have any chance of ever being awarded.
The Hammer -- to the infamous "Note we never actually see Lex leave the barn."
