This week's GAYLEs are Volcanos. Well, it's difficult to think of something ash-themed. It was even more difficult to find a frigid volcano without much activity for Lana, but I think I managed.
GAYLE -- Awarded by Omar to Dominic for the look he gives Lex upon being offered a single-malt older than Lex is. Other nominations included the look that Lex gave Clark when Lex told him he was rescinding the tickets; Lex and Bo (Brooding, ask them to change your meds, please?) on the football field which is ickier than Lionel and Lex to me; Lionel and Lex in the alley; and Whitney and Clark on the basketball court.
GAL -- "He said it's in our past." (Italics mine). I don't know if it's ambiguous enough, though.
HoNay! -- With the "Uh-oh I outed myself look" that Clark had after the GAL, I don't think there's any viable HoNay! to speak of.
PHOC -- Unseen but mentioned: Clark's first rod. The one Bo and Martha couldn't make him let go of at bedtime. Honorable mention to Lex stroking the glass of scotch while drugging Dominic. By the way, anyone else think that the Luthors could afford better crystal than the stuff I've seen at Marshall's at $5.99 for 6? The pool cue doesn't count, because it wasn't Lex stroking it. disbelief noticed a colorful and phallic painting at the castle, but I missed it. And jeansheridan reminded me of the shadowplay with the bone saw at the Medical Examiner's office. I agree they did it on purpose.
SWOLI -- Chloe's reference to Michael Jackson's Thriller won hands down.
The Juvie -- Fathers are good. Except for Lionel. This award is shared by Whitney, Clark, and Lex
The Platypus -- "I don't want history to repeat itself." Said by Martha and Clark and Lex and Jonathan and the plant from Nicodemus and ...
Working!Gaydar -- Well, there had to be some reason Bo Kent was attempting murder by hay bale. And Lana seems to have finally caught a clue too.
BIG -- Clark looked so guilty after his little GAL faux pas and so smug when he mentioned the benefits of being Lex's friend that I think all his behavior was indicating gayness this week. On the other hand, the question during the Lex/Dom drink scene was murder or seduction, so maybe it should get this one.
Occasionals:
The Acting!Lana -- :::{crickets}:::
The Yea! I finally have something to Do! -- Whitney did a great job of conveying the fear and pain of a teenager with a sick parent. Pity he didn't look the part, but I blame the makeup person not the actor.
The DICK -- Not many nominations so I'll miswield my power and say it goes to Studious!Clark. That whole scene with his dad in the barn was so painfully real that it made me just want to hug him. And then knock their heads together.
The DRILL -- I hadn't realized that Mr. Rosenbaum's hips have their own fan club, but apparently those shots of him pouring drinks and sitting down just did it for most of you. I thought he looked particularly good walking away from Lionel, myself.
The DIMB -- Just as Shirtless!Pete received his own "Drool Inducing" award in Shimmer, the Magnificent Bastard is receiving his own this week. Every single thread I've read has had at least one person remarking about "I'd never really thought of John Glover as hot until I saw him get out of the limousine." Well, I'd always thought he was pretty sexy, but my tongue unfurled from the couch to the front door when I saw Lionel in that alley.
The LEXUS -- Clark suggesting that X-ray vision will help them catch more fish. This scene may get it for the whole season.
The PSHAW -- The consensus seems to be that all redeeming value came from the acting (except for Lana's crocodile tears) and not from the script the actors were working with.
BLASST -- All those hot and manly sparks from Bo Kent's torch. Aimed at Dominic, I noticed.
The Big Cheese -- Nietsche Nachos the official Smallville snack food.
The Flowers... -- In that last scene between Lex and Lionel the intensity and the mutual bemusement was very sexual. Actually, I don't think either actor can read a book without it seeming sexual. My only real surprise was that Lionel didn't say, "I'll always be your Daddy."
The CUDDLE -- Most people seem to think Ashcan deserved it. Those that didn't seemed more worried about the dog than the ME or the "Mobile Meals" guy. Y'all worry me, but I'll go with the concensus.
BLOW -- Goes to Dominic. Whether you preferred, "Some things should remain between patient and therapist," or "I'll remember that for the Biography channel," it was Dom's turn to bring on the snark. The other two primary suggestions rely on delivery. Lex's, "How's your drink?" and Lionel's "Well done."
