If
asked to pick the gayest show on TV, most people would answer Will
and Grace, or the ubiquitous Queer As Folk, or the
high-brow Six Feet Under, or
maybe, if they had the taste of a crack-addicted lemming, The
Ellen Show. But we on the Smallville forum
over at TelevisionWithoutPity.com contend that they'd all be dead
wrong. We know it's actually the WB's new show about a
teenage Superman and his dear friend, rhymes-with-Sex
Luthor. That show is Smallville.
We rest
assured in the knowledge that
our favorite show is absolutely rife with homoerotic innuendo,
looks, dialogue, plot contrivances, props, and scene angles--
especially between, but not limited to, Clark and Lex.
The
more people that join in the Smallville discussions over
at TWoP, the more we realize that we are not,
in fact crazy-- well, we may yet be, but not about this:
there is some serious queerness going on this show.
And the best part? Everybody that's posted about
it... loves it. Like you would not
believe. To date, the "Homoeroticism! Yay!"
(or HoYay!) thread remains the most popular on the
forum. Coincidence? We think not.

"Slashy
State of Mind"
by Saki of TelevisionWithoutPity
fame
To
the tune of Billy Joel's "N.Y. State of
Mind"
Some
folks like the WB,
Get their Smallville views from The Kryptonsite
They'll deny what's reality with all of their might
But I'm bootin' my PC
To the MBTV kind.
I'm in a Slashy state of mind.
I've seen Lex use all his charms
Give Clark fancy trucks, rides in limousines,
I've seen Clark give Lex looks suited for NC-17
I know what I'm seeing,
And I can not wait to get on line,
I'm in a slashy State of mind.
It was so easy, living day by day,
Out of touch, in this hetero world.
But now I need a little homo take,
Some Brooding Soul, Miss Windy's views.
They deny what's reality,
And it's fine with me, I just let it slide.
They see this HoYay goodness,
they just run and hide
I know their uptight reasons, I leave them all behind.
I'm in a slashy state of mind.
It was so easy living day by day,
Out of touch in this hetero world.
But now I need a little homo take,
Some Brooding Soul, Miss Windy's views.
They deny what's reality,
Well, it's fine with me, I just let it slide.
They shout out HoNay! Superman can't be gay!
I don't care for their reasons,
I leave them all behind.
I'm in a slashy State of mind.
I'm just bootin' my PC
To the MBTV kind.
I'm in a slashy state of mind.

It could be
due to the fact that the show is riddled with studly men, such
as the inimitable Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor), the
damn-close-to-perfect Tom Welling (Clark Kent), as well
as Eric Johnson, Sam Jones III, John Schneider, Joe Morton, John Glover, and myriad other drool-worthy guest stars. |
It could be due to
the fact that when the WB said they were modernizing the Superman
myth, and we now realize they REALLY weren't kidding.
Either
way-- it's unmistakable. There are some definite boy-boy love vibes
going on with this show. Don't believe us? See for
yourself every Tuesday on the WB at 9PM EST!
So what's a fangirl/boy
(or two or three... dozen) with an unhealthy obsession to do?
As usual, we on the TWoP Smallville forum looked to our wise,
revered, irreverent recapper/ forum leader, Omar G., for
inspiration. One week, he decided to start doling out the GAYest
Look of the Episode award, intended to commemorate the
most memorably love-struck gaze our boys engaged in during the
hour. Another TWoP poster, RecoveringTVAddict, called it the GAYLE Award, and we, being
scarily enthusiastic about such things, ran with that. Things kind
of snowballed from there, and soon we had over 20 different awards
to hand out each week. The end result is..... this web site.
WELCOME! Much like any other addicts, we're always glad to have another wacky
Smallvillian hooked on Smallville HoYay! Make yourself
at home, whip up a batch of Kraptonite,
print out our awards voting sheet,
and revel in the Clark/Lex love. At the very least, you are
in excellent company. ;) ~ by MissWindy
